#1 The Why?

As I talk to people about my trip ahead I am met with the same question. Why? What is the reason for my upcoming trip?

The truth is that there is not a one line answer to this question, so I’ll explain.

As my training in cabinetmaking drew to a close at the end of May it felt like I was left with a decision. In my mind I saw it two ways, either I get a job or go on an adventure. While the stability of solid employment was attractive it dawned on me that I am in the privileged position whereby the world is my oyster. I have nothing tying me down. I am single, have no house or bills, no job and my family is healthy. I can go anywhere and do anything.

So with my mind made up and not wanting to let time slip away I cracked on with deciding where to go?

This didn’t take too long. My dad suggested New Zealand and with it being the top country on my bucket list I looked into it. I found out that I could get a 2 year visa that allowed me to work while I travelled. This was ideal. So after a couple of forms and a crazy expensive medical check the visa came through.

So there we go, that’s the why.
